Honda CB1100 RS Stripped back and lean
AN EYE FOR DETAIL
The shape of a raw 1970s race bike, with a touch of café racer.
The CB1100 RS will attract attention from the moment you fire it up. A crisp exhaust note through chrome pipes – reminiscent of the CB750 – will not go unnoticed. This bike has an edge to it, the look is pure street with eye-catching front and rear suspension units, full floating discs, a sport striped fuel tank and slim-styled indicators – stunning.
Styled on the 1970’s superbikes: 43mm Showa Dual Bending Valve, two-piece front fork and remote reservoir rear shocks. 17-inch cast aluminium wheels with dual radial-mount, four-piston brake calipers and floating discs.
OLD SCHOOL IS THE NEW SCHOOL
Take a closer look at how the CB1100 RS brings retro right up to date, while reminding us of a golden era.
Dual dials
The speedo and rev counter design is truly retro and adorned in chrome. Rider information includes a fuel gauge and clock, gear position indicator, fuel efficiency gauge and range computer. Ignition is now via a ‘wave’ style key.
Light wheels
Front and rear wheels are sports 17” cast aluminium alloy with sports-spec tyre sizes. They keep the unsprung weight as low as possible to compliment the quick turning geometry of the chassis.
Focused on feedback
The classic tubular steel, double cradle frame holds the engine with four rigid and two rubber mounts. Sharper steering geometry – the rake and trail is 26°/99mm and wheelbase is 1485mm – makes the bike turn quicker for a sportier ride.
Comfort and quality
A wide classic seat, made just the way they used to be. Finished in a high quality, durable cover it's well padded and extremely comfortable for the rider and the passenger.
A cleaner line
The footrest hangers have been redesigned for a snug fit, complimenting the lines of the chassis and mufflers. Lighter and smaller, made from strong die-cast aluminium, they support both rider and pillion footpegs.
Feeling the force
Dual radial mount, four-piston Tokico calipers grip the 310mm floating discs up front; the rear is a 256mm disc and single-piston caliper. Working together with ABS, you get a positive and confident feel under all stopping conditions.
Face front
The round front headlight is LED with a running light and flanked by custom-style, mini indicators. Unmistakably street – underlined by twin horns – this handsome cluster crowns the front of the machine.
The stripes are earned
There’s no mistaking the proportion and silhouette of a true 1970's superbike. A flowing, curvaceous fuel tank with a sports stripe detail – made without seam-welded lips – evokes hand-made craftsmanship and topped with an aircraft-style, alloy filler cap.
THE GOLD STANDARD
Fully adjustable front and rear suspension by Showa.
Front fork
The CB1100 RS has a redesigned, custom-style 43mm Dual Bending Valve type fork that provides excellent control. Incorporating a free valve structure that progressively increases the amount of damping according to the road conditions. This simple, innovative technology – a world first –delivers superior performance levels that are equivalent to cartridge type suspension units, but in a lighter package
Rear Shocks
Twin Showa rear shocks offer adjustable spring preload and operate in unison with a strong steel swingarm. This combination delivers good stability and excellent rear-wheel-feel and handling – even with a passenger on board.
Lighter than a conventional cartridge, this arrangement provides linear damping, according to speed, for a compliant and supple feel.
AUTHENTIC LINEAGE
If you want to hear a sound from the 70s - open the throttle.
Time to remember
In 1969 the sound of an inline, air-cooled four-cylinder engine proclaimed the arrival of a new superbike era; enter the Honda CB750 Four. It was an influential moment that changed our perception of motorcycles and the way we rode them. The CB1100 RS is a direct link to those early days of freedom - a genuine café racer, born of classic DNA.
Time to change
We’ve refined and revamped the DOHC engine to respond with smooth linear drive; torque peaks at 91Nm for some classic muscle. Finished in black, right up to the cam covers, it provides a strong contrast to the bright polished alloy and chrome details for a real street, custom look.
The 4-2-2 exhaust system is internally split into two expansion chambers, each muffler features dual hole-punched link pipes for a tone evocative of a classic, four-cylinder engine note.
The sweeping chrome exhaust pipes have become the signature of an air-cooled inline four-cylinder motorcycle.
